Itinerary
DAY 1: CUSCO – SORAYPAMPA
We will pick you up from your hotel at 4:30 a.m. for the drive to the trailhead, passing through the villages of Izcuchaca and Limatambo before arriving at Mollepata, where we will eat breakfast. We will then continue in our vehicle to Challacancha, where we will begin our hike as far as the campsite at Soraypampa (3900 meters above sea level). When we stop for lunch, you will be given a briefing before starting the walk to Lake Humantay, where we will also do some exercises to help with acclimation. The hike will take around six hours in total, with the highest point of our route today being Lake Humantay, at 4220 meters above sea level, where there are spectacular views.
DAY 2: SORAYPAMPA – CHAULLAY
At around 6:00 a.m. we will eat a delicious breakfast before beginning our walk up to the highest point of the entire trek, at Salkantay Pass (4650 meters), passing through beautiful scenery on our way to Huayracmachay, where we will stop for lunch. After lunch, we will descend along a valley, entering an area of high forest. During this section of the route, it is possible to see many varieties of orchids, as well as a large waterfall, in a landscape dominated by Mount Salkantay. We will make our second camp at Chaullay, where you will be served a delicious dinner following your seven-hour hike.
DAY 3: CHAULLAY – PLAYA SAHUAYACO – SANTA TERESA – HIDROELECTRICA – AGUAS CALIENTES
On the third day, you will already be in the jungle area. We wake you up around 6:00 am. then we provide you with a delicious breakfast. Around 7:00 am you start the hike to la playa Sahuayaco for 5 hours approximately along the Santa Teresa Valley which is formed by the Salkantay River. Along the valley, you have the chance to see plantation such a coffee, bananas, avocados, Coca, passion fruit, and much more. Five hours of hiking, you will arrive at La Playa Sahuayaco where we will have our lunch, from where you will take local transportation for one hour to Santa Teresa, then you continue by car 45 more minutes to Hidrolectrica then walking 3 more hours along the train tracks to Aguas Calientes town on the flat trail. Then we take you to the hotel for showering and relaxing, in the evening around 7:00 pm we organized a dinner in a restaurant in Aguas Calientes after we go to sleep.
DAY 4: MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO
In the early morning, at around 4:30 a.m., we will begin the walk to the majestic Inca city of Machu Picchu, where we will meet with the guide and the rest of the group. Please note: There are two options for the ascent to Machu Picchu; on foot to see the sunrise, very early; or taking the bus. At the ruins, we will receive a guided tour of the site lasting approximately two hours, after which you will have free time to visit the rest of the citadel, including for example the Inca Bridge and the Sun Gate. After leaving the citadel at the time agreed with the guide, we will descend on foot or by bus to the small town of Aguas Calientes, where we will board the return train to the village of Ollantaytambo, where a bus will take us back to the city of Cusco.
WE OFFER YOU TWO OPTIONS TO GO BACK TO CUSCO AFTER VISITING MACHU PICCHU.
TRAIN OPTION:
You can visit Machu Picchu for a longer time and have enough time if you are planning to do HUAYNAPICCHU or MACHU PICCHU MOUNTAIN, which require a minimum of 3 hours approximately. After visiting the area of Machu Picchu for 7 to 8 hours, you have to return to the town of Aguas Calientes to take a train at 18:20 to Ollantambo for 1.5 hours then by car to Cusco for 2 hours more to arrive in Cusco around 10:30 pm
CAR OPTION:
You arrive at Machu Picchu around 6:00 am for the guided tour for 2 hours then you have free time to explore the site on your own. If you take this option, and you are thinking to do HUAYNAPICCHU, or MACHU PICCHU MOUNTAIN is possible but will be too very tight and rush because you need to leave Machu Picchu at 11:30 to walk back to Hydroelectric for 3 hours in order to be in Hidrolectrica at 3:00pm to take a car for 6 hours back Cusco. If you are considering doing this option and doing one of the mountains, we recommend you stay one more night in Aguas Calientes and return the 6th day to Cusco by car.

Whether you are short on time or just prefer to do a shorter part of the Inca trail this tour does not disappoint. Our guide Jhimmy was amazing. I have some knee issues and he was very patient and made several stops. He also was very knowlegeable. We passed several ruin sites along the way to Machu Picchu. Highly recommend! Posted on LexDVerified AMAZING, thanks Andy Andy was a super guide, really funny and patient, it was an amazing experience, i 100% recommanded !
