Humantay Lake Tour 1 Day from Cusco

OVERVIEW

Embark on a breathtaking journey to one of Peru’s most spectacular natural wonders with our Humantay Lake Tour, a full-day excursion from Cusco. This tour is designed for nature lovers and adventurers eager to explore the dazzling turquoise waters of Humantay Lake, set against the majestic backdrop of snow-capped mountains in the Andes. It’s an ideal adventure for those looking to experience high-altitude landscapes and remarkable scenery within a day’s reach from Cusco.

Your day begins early with a scenic drive through the beautiful Salkantay Valley. As you ascend into the rugged mountains, each turn offers increasingly spectacular views of the Andean countryside, dotted with quaint villages and grazing livestock. The drive sets the stage for the awe-inspiring sights that await.

Upon arrival at Soraypampa, the starting point of your trek, you’ll be greeted by the imposing sight of Salkantay Peak, one of the highest and most stunning peaks in the Peruvian Andes. The trek to Humantay Lake is a rewarding challenge, with a well-trodden path that climbs steadily through a landscape that shifts from lush meadows to rocky highlands. The ascent takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, but all physical exertions are forgotten the moment you glimpse the vibrant, azure waters of Humantay Lake, nestled at the base of Humantay Glacier.

The lake’s intense color is a dramatic contrast against the stark, rugged terrain that surrounds it, providing an ideal opportunity for passionate photographers and nature enthusiasts to capture one-of-a-kind landscapes. Enjoy a moment to relax by the lake, soak in the tranquility, and perhaps even dip your toes into the icy waters if you’re feeling brave.
