Itinerary
Day 1: Beginning of The Huchuy Qosqo Trek to Machu Picchu (Cusco – Pumamarca)
The Huchuy Qosqo Trek to Machu Picchu begins even before day 1. You will have a briefing the night before the departure. You’ll meet with our expert tour guide. You’ll have some indications for safety and guidelines.
On the actual day 1 of the trek to Huchuy Qosqo (Peru), you’ll leave your hotel at 5:00 am. Inca Path Peru will handle the hotel pick up. So you don’t need to worry about anything.
We’ll have a short drive (30 minutes) to Tambomachay archaeological site. The Huchuy Qosqo Trek to Machu Picchu begins here. We’ll walk across Andean plains for a few hours. Enjoy these mostly unseen scenarios.
At a certain point we will cross the Sicllaccasa Pass at 4,020 m / 13,189 ft above sea level. Thi is a high altitude trek. So you have to listen to your tour guide. We’ll walk to the Ccauca Ravine archaeological site.
Along the Huchuy Qosqo Trek to Machu Picchu we will encounter farms and crop fields. Also, you’ll get to meet the Andean cacti varieties. This will be a long walk.
We’ll reach the Queullococha Pass, from which you’ll have a panoramic view. During our hike, observe the Veronica, Pitusiray and Chicon snow-capped mountains. And of course we’ll visit the Queullococha Lake.
On the lake, you may spot Andean birds, such as the Andean geese. This is also the point from which we ascend.
We’ll cross the Challu pass, the third pass of the Huchuy Qosqo Trek to Machu Picchu.
Soon, we’ll be able to see the Chinchero plains. You’ll also have views to the Piuray an Qoricocha lakes. And finally we’ll pass the Rumicruz pass, the fourth of the trek to Huchuy Qosqo (Peru).
Our next stop will be the Inca Stone Quarry. The rocks in Huchuy Qosqo (Peru) came from here. Finally we’ll get to the Pumamarca Village. Near the village we’ll set up camp. After dinner, we’ll sleep for the day.
Day 2: Huchuy Qosqo Peru (Huchuy Qosqo – Aguas Calientes)
Our Huchuy Qosqo Trek to Machu Picchu will arrive on this day to its first destination. After breakfast, we’ll continue our Huchuy Qosqo (Peru) journey. We’ll visit the Inca Bridge and lost segments of the Inca Trail.
On the way to Huchuy Qosqo (Peru), we’ll see a canyon full of amazing rock formations. We’ll arrive to Huchuy Qosqo (Peru). This is an archaeological site with impressive structures. Its location gives you a panoramic view of the Sacred Valley below.
We’ll have a guided tour around the archaeological site. This tour will last 2 hours. And after learning about the history of Huchuy Qosqo (Peru), we’ll begin the descent to the town of Lamay.
Our lunch will be in the Village of Lamay. Then we’ll take a transport to Ollantaytambo. Here we’ll take the train to Aguas Calientes / Machu Picchu Pueblo. In Aguas Calientes, our team members will make sure you arrive safely to your hotel.

Day 3: Trek to Machu Picchu and Return to Cusco (Aguas calientes – Cusco)
For the last day of our Huchuy Qosqo trek to Machu Picchu we’ll trek to Machu Picchu. We have to wake up at 4:00 am. You’ll meet your guide and begin the trek at 4:30 am.
There is an option to take the bus to the citadel of Machu Picchu, with an extra charge. This also changes the hour of departure. When booking, consider all the options available.
By 6:00 am you’ll be in the control access to Machu Picchu verifying your entrance. Don’t forget your passport. We aim to see the sunrise over Machu Picchu.
At the Machu Picchu archaeological site, our guide will show us the place. This will be a 2 hour guided tour around the main locations and zones of Machu Picchu. Enjoy the nature and the wonder of this ancient city.
After this tour, you’ll have some time to explore on your own. You’ll be reunited with your guide to descend to Aguas Calientes / Machu Picchu Pueblo. You can go dow by foot or by bus.
In Aguas Calientes you’ll take the train to Ollantaytambo. A bus there will take us to Cusco city. And finally it will bring you to your hotel in Cusco.

If you are a university student you can get a 20 USD discount on your entrance to Machu Picchu. To apply for this benefit you have to send a digital copy of both sides of your current student card.
Make sure all data (name, university’s name, visible student photo) is visible. You can only apply to this benefit if you are 25 years old or younger. After getting the discount, you have to present your student card at the control point before entering Machu Picchu.
