Sacred Valley of the Incas Full Day Tour
OVERVIEW
Embark on an enriching journey through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, a region not only famed for its lush, fertile lands but also as a historical epicenter of Inca culture. This full-day tour showcases the valley’s significant agricultural heritage, exemplified by the cultivation of unique large-kernelled corn that continues to this day. Join us as we traverse the breathtaking landscapes and delve into the rich tapestry of history and culture in this remarkable part of Peru.
The tour begins in Pisac, a picturesque town known for its vibrant market and impressive archaeological site. Here, you can explore ancient ruins that offer a glimpse into the Inca’s advanced masonry and agricultural techniques. The market, bustling with colorful stalls, offers an array of handmade crafts and textiles, providing a perfect opportunity to interact with local artisans and purchase authentic souvenirs.
Next, the tour proceeds to Ollantaytambo, an exceptionally well-preserved Inca village that features remarkable stone streets and an ancient fortress with terraced hillsides. Standing as a monumental testimony to Inca engineering, Ollantaytambo offers insights into ancient urban planning and defense strategies. It serves as one of the most common starting points for the famous Inca Trail leading to Machu Picchu.
Lunch is served in Urubamba, a tranquil riverside town nestled in the heart of the Sacred Valley. This scenic stop provides a moment to enjoy traditional Andean cuisine in a setting surrounded by majestic mountains and rolling fields.
